|
The future is quite rosy for this little fella, as at the moment it is only in stage 2.
- Stage 1 - Released 8th May 07
Simple RSS feed, suitable for people to track and watch your products
- Stage 2 - Released 7th July 07
as 1, but the feed has the correct attributes for Froogle (Google Base), allowing you to upload directly into Google.
- Stage 3 - Released 7th August 07
Released in V3
- Product Title "&" filter,
The most requested part of the module. One client had 60K+ products, and as his database was updated by another company with new products, he spent nearly all his time looking and searching for products with the & sign, as Google Base would reject his XML file if it had one in the title.
- Category Filter
You can now exprt the whole database of products, or just the category you choose.
- CSS Control
A CSS suffix was added, not a huge job, just a standard css suffix, so now you can add something like mainlevel-vmrss in your css, and completely change the way it looks and positions.
- Stage 4 - Released 4th Jan 08
Produced using the Google FTP upload, so it automatically uploads with no work from the administrator. You simply set it to auto and at a preset time period, it will send the feed into Google Base on the fly keeping your products upto date all the time for ever.
In Development now
- Stage 5 - To be able to define individual product requirements. So each product can be customised for Froogle.
- Stage 6 - To add extra fields for attributes like books and other products, such as ISBN numbers etc.
- We are at stage 4 at the moment (released 4th Jan 08), and are already researching and working towards stage 5, but have no planned delivery date as yet.
Some parts of the later stages, especially 5, will probably require hacks into Virtuemart, but we haven't looked into this, as we want to see what happens with Virtuemart 1.1.
